Prompt medical attention is needed after the dislocation. The shoulder should not be moved at all to avoid discomfort and further complications until the medical attention is sought.
The doctors move the dislocated shoulder right to its place after physical examination. The treatment follows:
- Medication to ease pain and discomfort
- Using belts to immobilize the shoulder joint
- Mandatory physiotherapy for an extend time if needed.
The recovery period may differ on the basis of age of the patient andthe extent of the injury. If the shoulder pain and discomfort persists even after the physiotherapy, a surgery could be neededin case of torn or stretched tissues.
Shoulder Dislocation Recovery
Shoulder Dislocation Recovery
Once the slippedupper arm is put back into its socket, the ability to move the shoulder returns right away, but the pain remains. The full recovery takes weeks and depends totally upon other tissue damages and physiotherapy.
Extreme care is necessary to not cause a following injury to the shoulder. The shoulder is dislocated easily for a person with previous shoulder dislocation history.
Physiotherapy is a must. It helps in regaining the full range motion by strengthening the shoulder muscles.
